How to Get Rid of Mealybugs and Scale Insects on Plants 

Wash Mealybugs Away

Dislodge mealybugs with a steady stream of water in the kitchen sink, bathtub, or shower.  

Use Isopropyl Alcohol

Soak a cotton ball with 70% isopropyl rubbing alcohol. Use weaker rubbing alcohol and test it on one leaf before applying it to the whole plant to avoid burning. 

Spray With Insecticidal Soap

Use insecticidal soap. either a commercial product, preferably one that is free of perfumes and additives that might harm plants. 

Use Neem Oil

Neem oil, an organic pesticide, is mixed. using mild dish detergent and water (1–2 tablespoons neem oil, 1–2 teaspoons dish detergent, and 1 gallon warm water, or as directed onproduct label).  

Introduce Predatory Insect

Mealybug treatment with predatory insects takes the longest but has the fewest negative consequences on your garden.  

Use Homemade Insect Spray

In a food processor or blender, puree 1 garlic bulb, 1 small onion, and 1 teaspoon of cayenne pepper into a paste to make DIY garden pesticide.
