The Best Braised Cabbage Recipe

Braised cabbage wedges are slow-cooked with carrots, onions, butter, and seasonings until soft. The finest cabbage dish!  

– 1 head cabbage cut into 8 wedge – 1/2 cup onion sliced – 2 carrots peeled and sliced – 1/2 cup chicken or vegetable broth – 1/4 cup butter cut into small piece – salt and pepper to taste – 2 tablespoons chopped parsley – cooking spray


Start with a 325-degree oven. Cooking spray a baking dish. Place cabbage wedges in baking dish and arrange carrots and onions around them.  


Step 1

Add chicken broth to the pan. Salt and pepper the cabbage and sprinkle butter bits on top.  

Step 2

Bake the dish for 2 hours under foil. Uncover the dish halfway through baking and carefully flip the cabbage wedges with tongs.  

Step 3

Heat the oven to 425°F. Bake the dish uncovered for 15-20 minutes until cabbage edges brown. Sprinkle parsley and serve.
