How To Stop Mosquitoes – Natural Methods To Keep Mosquitoes Away!

Standing water around your home and garden breeds mosquitoes, so remove it. Regularly empty and clean bird baths, flower pot saucers, gutters, and other water containers.

Remove Standing Water

Some plant compounds repel insects. Citronella, lavender, marigolds, lemon balm, basil, catnip, and rosemary repel insects in gardens and potted outdoor lounging areas.

Install Mosquito-Repelling Plants

Install mosquito netting or screens on windows, doors, and outdoor chairs to block insects and allow airflow.

Use Mosquito Nets

Citronella candles and incense repel bugs. Put them around patio tables, outdoor seats, and other outside areas.

Burn Mosquito-Repelling Candles or Incense

Citronella, lavender, eucalyptus, tea tree, and peppermint repel mosquitoes. Before going outside, dilute these oils with coconut oil and apply to skin or clothing. A few drops of these oils in a diffuser can also repel interior insects.

Use Essential Oils

Trash and organic materials attract mosquitoes. Lawn care includes mowing, pruning, and leaf removal.

Keep Outdoor Areas Clean

CO2, heat, or UV light attract and trap mosquitoes. Consider using a mosquito trap in mosquito-prone areas.

Use Mosquito Traps

Avoid outside activities at dawn and dusk, when mosquitoes are most active. Wear long sleeves, pants, and socks outside to protect skin.

Limit Outdoor Activity During Peak Mosquito Hours

Create habitat and avoid insecticides to attract mosquito-eating bats, birds, and dragonflies to your yard.

Encourage Natural Predators

Airflow repels low-flying insects. Fan breezes around outdoor dining spaces deter mosquitoes.
