How to Make the Best Oatmeal

Neglect the bag's back directions. I should share my favourite homemade oatmeal recipe.  

– 2 tablespoons unsalted butter or coconut oil – 2 cups old-fashioned rolled oat – 1 ½ cups water – ½ cup milk of choice or additional water – Generous pinch of fine salt – Pinch of ground cinnamon (optional)


Middle-to-large pot melts butter. Incorporate oats. Oats should smell toasty and be gently browned after 4–6 minutes of turning.  


Step 1

Avoid splashing by slowly adding water and milk to the pot. Salt and cinnamon optional. Stir oats and watch pot boil quickly.   

Step 2

In three minutes, the pot's middle should have 2 inches of bubbles. Cover saucepan. Cool the electric stove and add the pot. 

Step 3

Oats should be checked after the timer. Cook dry, split oats in a skillet.  Get the pot and wait 1–2 minutes.

Step 4

Leftover muesli lasts 4 days. Cool oats to room temperature, then cover and refrigerate.
