Easy Mexican Shrimp Cocktail Recipe

Fresh shrimp, red onion, avocado, cilantro, and jalapeno in a homemade sauce make up this Mexican shrimp cocktail (coctel de camarones). Any gathering will benefit from this light, refreshing appetiser!  

– 1 1/2 pounds cooked shrimp – 1 cup avocado diced – 1/3 cup red onion very thinly sliced – 1 jalapeno seeds and ribs removed, then finely diced – 1/2 cup cilantro leaves chopped – 1/4 cup lime juice – 3/4 cup tomato sauce – 1/2 cup ketchup – 2 tablespoons orange juice – salt and pepper to taste – For garnish: lime wedge


A big bowl should be used to combine the shrimp, avocado, red onion, jalapeno and cilantro leaves.  


Step 1

In a small bowl, combine the lime juice, tomato sauce, ketchup, orange juice, salt, and pepper.  

Step 2

Then, whisk all of these ingredients together to produce the dressing. Applying the sauce on the prawns and then tossing them will ensure that they are evenly coated with the sauce.   

Step 3

Before serving, lime wedges can be utilised as a garnish if it is something that is preferred.
