Easy Apple And Blueberry Crumble Recipe

A warm dessert with buttery crumble topping and tart apples and blueberries is excellent for spring and summer. With a huge scoop of ice cream!

For the filling: – 2 lbs. (5-6 medium) apple – 2 cups (1 pint) blueberrie – ¼-⅓ cup brown sugar – 1 Tablespoon cornstarch – 2 teaspoons cinnamon – 1 teaspoon cardamom – Squeeze of lemon juice – Pinch salt – Splash vanilla For the crumble: – 1 cup flour – ¾ cup brown sugar – ¾ cup old fashioned rolled oat – ¾ cup pecans, chopped – ¾ teaspoon Kosher salt – 8 Tablespoons butter, melted


Prep. Preheat oven to 350. Prepare an 11 x 7 or 9-inch square baking pan. Prepare fruit filling. Cut apples into bits. 


Step 1

 In a large bowl, combine apples, blueberries, brown sugar, cornstarch, cinnamon, cardamom, lemon juice, salt, and vanilla. Spread it on pan.

Step 2

Prepare crumble. In another bowl, mix flour, brown sugar, oats, pecans, and salt. Stir in melted butter to moisten all dry ingredients.

Step 3

Crumble on top. Make different-sized crumbles by pinching with your fingers. Sprinkle evenly over fruit filling.

Step 4

Bake. Bake the crumble until apples are fork-soft, 45–55 minutes. 

Step 5

Inspect crumble at 40 minutes. If well-browned, loosely cover the crumble with foil for the remaining bake time. Optional: heated crumble with ice cream.
