Delicious Matzo Crack Recipe

This matzo crack has handmade toffee and melted chocolate on matzo crackers. A simple Passover dessert that always gets raves!

– 6 sheets unsalted matzo – 2 sticks salted butter (1 cup) – 1 cup packed brown sugar – 2 cups semisweet chocolate chips I recommend Guittard or Ghirardelli. Nestle chocolate chips do not work well in this recipe. – ¾ cup chopped pecans or 1/2 cup white chocolate chips melted – ½ teaspoon coarse or flaky sea salt – cooking spray

Cover a sheet pan with foil and cooking spray or a nonstick silicon baking mat. Heat the oven to 400°F.

Step 1

Place matzo in a single layer on the baking sheet. Broken into smaller pieces may fit across the sheet pan.

Step 2

Boil butter and brown sugar in a medium saucepan. Boil 3 minutes. Coat matzo with brown sugar mixture using a spatula.

Step 3

Bake the sheet pan for 3-5 minutes until bubbling. Sprinkle chocolate chips over the pan shortly after removing it from the oven.

Step 4

Return the pan to the oven for 2-3 minutes to melt the chocolate. Spread chocolate on top evenly.

Step 5

Lay pecans on chocolate and sprinkle salt on top. For a marbled look, sprinkle spoonfuls of white chocolate on top and swirl it into the dark chocolate using a stick.

Step 6

Allow the toffee to cool at room temperature or in the fridge for 30 minutes. Slice and serve.
